I’ve Been Here Once Before

pain makes people change.

there was a sound like a snap

and then,

nothing.

something just broke.

something got caught 

the loose thread 

began to fray.

and when i looked in the mirror

i found a stranger blinking back

jammed into a body 

i once foolishly thought to call my own.
