Core Aura

By Demitris Dejesus

Energy wraps around my body

It wraps around me tight

Like a fresh joint

or like burrito skins

my aura wraps around me

and it’s always changing

If I were to judge a book by its cover

the book wouldn’t stand a chance

If I saw that you had yellow energy

and I had red energy

could we make orange?

At least for the moments we met

Because I know I’ll change colors

As soon as I leave your sight

I would have gone from red to orange

And then from orange to blue

Then from blue to black

All in a simple walk home

What if we did want to go deep?

Enter places of my psyche,

Only prohibited by doctors?

Would that be too close?

Because I can’t paint a full picture

With only the colors of my aura.

I’ll need more.

What color is at my core?

Pulsing at my center

Creating the human being I look at in the mirror

Because those are the colors, you’d want to know.

Not the ones determined by first appearance.

What if I described

What lays between my rib cage?

What color surrounds my heart?

What is the aura of my heart?
