Artificial Frida

Forever Blooming. Never Growing.

By Yasmine E.

Inspired by Frida Kahlo’s self portraiture, this project aims to illustrate the stagnancy of time in the face of trauma through the metaphor of an artificial flower that is forever preserved, yet ever unchanged. This photographic triptych is divided into a series of conceptual couplets surrounding my recent encounter with a pain that both uprooted and reseeded me.
