When Christ said I was new it was the hardest thing for me to believe.
This song is less about telling the next person you are new and more about coming into the revelation that "I am who He says I am by the grace of Him." Receiving that grace has been one of the hardest things for me in this journey - something that I must meditate on daily. Truly receiving His love has helped me come different.
Love brings results that hate can't.
I've practiced moving from anger, moving from hate, moving from false validation, even envy. But I believe as much as people think I am a lover, I am just beginning my journey of loving myself and loving others. I am coming different in love.
There was a time where I thought love was sex. That sex was intimacy with another. Most of the sex, if not all of it was cheap compared to true intimacy. Even when I think of porn now - just a poor man's synthetic version of intimacy. I go to it when I feel poor, to fill me, to feel me. Poor man, synthetic isn't the only thing you can afford. Yet after years of sexual trauma, that's been something God and I have been working on un-learning.
When I feel rich in spirit, those thoughts aren't ones that I think of. But even then I feel like an imposter. Do you know that feelings are just suggestions? Just because I feel a way that isn't the conclusion of who I am. So I am coming different with believing that my feelings dictate my actions. That my feelings dictate who I am as a being. Just because I feel poor doesn't mean I am.
I am rich by the grace of Him.
