Auburn
By Donte' Thrasher
This aura, the color of autumn,
the very first shade you see when you’ve made peace with an end,
it’s warm hugs from mama and chilly nights under Georgia skies,
it's a crisp cool wind kind enough to carry the gentle scent of apple pies,
it’s the color of sweet potatoes left bare without skins,
the soft dance of monarch’s in a belly, quietly lost in a lover’s limbs,
it's the same magnetic force that lightly tugs another close,
it’s the dark sherbet painted sunset of an Atlantic coast,
it’s the color of an ancient scorpion wrapped in an amber gem,
drops of dark ginger honey making love to a bowl of dried mango skin,
it’s the first and final second of a long awaited kiss,
it’s every moment in a life that has brought sugar coated bliss,
this aura is a tender, peaceful rage,
a focused, starless, alluring vibration,
a portrait soaked red orange in calm contention,
it’s the radiating glow of a super red giant,
it’s sunbeams that burn through space setting fire to the blackest hole,
it's a light reflected from the waters of this auburn soul.
