Hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Black Art In America (BAIA) will be participating as one of the 90 art shows at this year’s Art Basel in Miami, Fl on December 5th -10th. Known as a preserver of African American art, BAIA has documented and generated thousands of art content while also showcasing educational tools for the black art community.
To have them at one of the premier art expositions in the world is a blessing for the iconic sands of Basel and will sure make waves as one of the disseminators of modern black American art.

Born in Blytheville, Arkansas, Dorsey is known for depicting black Southern life on canvas. His vibrant textured paintings feel both nostalgic and pastoral as he walks viewers through powerful African American storytelling. He is the founder of BAIA and is dedicated to making free art accessible to the black community. See his work feature at Art Basel 2023.

Traci Mims
PAINTER, PRINTMAKER, & MURALIST
Traci Mims is a native of St. Petersburg, Florida currently living and working in Atlanta, Georgia. Drawing since the age of 4, Traci states that the meaning and content behind her work “ addresses subjects related to Black identity thru the use of symbolic imagery, cultural allegory and social realism.” See her at BAIA’s gallery with Scope at Art Basel 2023.

Akinola Taoheed
MULTI-DISCIPLINARY ARTIST & STUDENT
Akinola Taoheed Olaitan is a Nigerian artist based in Lagos currently pursuing a degree in Art Education at the University of Nigeria in Nsukka. His vibrant and dynamic charcoal and acrylic on canvas pieces will be available for purchase at Art Basel and are also available at BAIA.
